SPEAKERS: Denise Schultz and Erin Pease, co-founders of H.A.T. (Helping Around Town) Packs. During the school week approximately 40% of the children in this community participate in the free and reduced price meal programs at school BUT what happens on the weekend and when school is out? Some children save a part of their Friday meal and take it home. This non profit program was established to fill a void by providing take home meal packs to children (and their non school aged siblings) for the times when they are not in school...weekends, holidays. A normal 2 day weekend Pack includes 2 drinks, 2 breakfast items, 2 lunch items, fresh fruit and snacks. The amount of food in the pack changes with the length of time the child is not in school.
